Best Time of Year to Visit Biltmore Estate – Best Tourist Spots

1. Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America’s most popular national parks, traverses 469 miles from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.

While most people visit the parkway in October to see the colorful leaves, if you prefer fewer crowds, it’s best to plan a trip in early to mid-summer to see blooming rhododendrons, mountain laurel, and brightly colored azaleas.

2. Biltmore Estate

The Vanderbilt Mansion is located in the center of an 8,000-acre estate and is the largest private residence in the United States. The house itself covers four acres and has 250 rooms – 199 bedrooms and 43 bathrooms.

Visitors should plan time to meander through the grounds and River Bend Farm in addition to appreciating the spectacular art, antiques, and architecture inside the home. Visitors should plan on spending a whole day exploring the estate.

3. Mount Mitchell State Park

The Mount Mitchell State Park, home to the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, is located about 45 minutes northeast of Asheville. Designated as a state park in 1915, Mount Mitchell was the first state park designated in North Carolina.

Upon arriving at the KTT parking area, visitors can stop by the Mount Mitchell Museum to learn more about the mountain’s ecological history before taking the moderately steep quarter-mile Summit Trail to the impressive panoramic views.

4. Zip Line dan Hot Air Balloon Rides

To get a unique perspective of North Carolina’s scenery, consider taking one of the many zip line canopy tours located around Asheville. These tours offer visitors an exhilarating experience soaring over hilltops for a bird’s-eye view.

Another peaceful and calm way to see Asheville from above is through hot air balloon rides. The fall season is a popular time to take a trip, as the forest canopy lights up with autumn leaves. Don’t forget to bring (and hold on tight to) your camera!
